I cannot say thank you enough to all involved for the vision, time, effort, and capital invested in the Fiber Optic Internet Infrastructure and service to the Village of Sherburne electric territory and the portions of the Sherburne-Earlville Central School District that Sherburne Electric serves. One of my greatest fears, concerns, and frustrations as an educator during Covid shutdown of education was the internet service.  At the time, the best internet service I and most of us in the township could get was up to 5 MBPS through Frontier, which was the only service provider in most of our area.  In my experience, this paltry service was sorely taxed as I taught several classes online, my high school student and college student were on Zoom for classes, and my wife was working out of office needing the internet to do her job.  The poor quality of internet led to numerous drops while teaching, and poor quality of education due to garbled intermittent transmission.  The stress levels of my high school and college students were exponentially high as they were fearful of poor internet service affecting the quality of their academic grades.  Thanks to the capital investment by the leadership of New York State and their commitment to education and quality of internet services, as well as the vision of our local leaders, that will no longer be the case.  The future is that much brighter thanks to you all!

We've struggled with internet service since moving to our current home outside of the village.  This project was a ray of light for us.  Today we had our first day with both working remotely from home which was flawless. Separately all other internet needs, streaming videos and audio has been seamless and no more buffering interruptions or limitations.  We cancelled both DSL and Satellite TV services which is going to save us roughly $120 a month.  We want to thank everyone involved for the coordination, care and hard work that made this project a reality for our municipality.

Everything has happened as you said it would, all without a hitch.  Line in from the pole was installed underground at a reasonable price.  Hookup and install after that were timely and again, perfectly done.  We’re now enjoying crystal clear FaceTime calls with our kids.  Next up is to choose a streaming service for TV channels.  Pricing less than current basic dish service and more choices.

Sherburne Fiber has brought us to the 21st Century!  My wife and I are so grateful to have affordable access to high-speed internet.  We are rural residents and have been looking forward to unlimited data and high-speed capabilities for our home and business.  The ability to access features like On-Demand from Dish Network and the option of streaming services that run seamlessly without weather interference is life changing.  We both work extensively on No Problem Liquor Store from home and have noticed a huge difference.

We would like to thank Mayor Bill Acee for heading this up and tirelessly working and networking with the State of NY to get this off the ground.  Funding and Grants take time and energy.  Bill has dedicated himself to this project for years.  

 

Sherburne Electric Superintendent, Travis DuBois has worked closely with Bill and is doing a phenomenal job rolling out this unique program.  Ordering supplies and equipment, education, timing and delegation are just a few of his responsibilities.  Travis is always available to discuss and guide.

 

The electric crew is hard working, efficient, accommodating and professional.  They have taken on this project and have seamlessly kept up with the normal electric work load.  A special thanks to new hire Matt Powrie.  Matt has extensive expertise with fiber. He does a wonderful job troubleshooting and making sure everything is up and running.

 

We believe that this is the future in internet connection and that Sherburne NY will reap the benefits for years to come.

Got connection today, unbelievable speed, I subscribed to a 1 GB x 1 GB.  Using the eero pro 6E router.  Every step of the installation was smooth and first class:  Scott Prewitt buried my fiber, left the lawn almost same as before he came.  Matt connected fiber to pole, put my NID inside the house.  They explained the setup and account in detail.  Raub and Robby took less than an hour to finish the installation and test.

 

This system has tremendous potential for Sherburne, I will promote it to anyone and everyone in town.

I was super excited when I learned that Sherburne was going to be installing and offering high speed fiber internet. I live on a mountain in Sherburne only 5 minutes from town, but I only have 1-2 bars of service with Verizon or AT&T on a nice sunny day. My internet options were satellite, Frontier or cell service. I was currently using AT&T home base for internet. Speeds were painfully slow. If the weather was bad, it was even worse.

 

Fast forward to 2nd quarter of 2023 I got the call to start the setup for my install. My service is buried from the pole to my house. Scott Prewitt came up and took care of that part flawlessly and worked off the photo I sent him. Matt from Sherburne Electric ran the fiber from there to the box and he was able to hide that as much as possible. Then Raub and Robby came and ran from the box into our log cabin. They were able to hide it between logs and inside with minimal invasiveness. Everyone during the entire process was friendly, efficient and made sure everything went as smoothly as possible!

 

Service has been very reliable and quick. I also own RSD Motorsports on the south side of town and my parents own Mobile Life Transport. We had Spectrum’s business internet, which was mostly reliable, but when there was an issue, we had to put in a ticket and wait a few days. This does not work very well for a company that relies on internet to operate. Speeds were quite a bit slower and double the price of Sherburne connect. It was a no brainer to switch. Our experience with Sherburne Electric/Sherburne Connect has been nothing but superb!
